systems infrastructure

It’s all about sharing, right?

Over the years I have collected ideas, developed practices, and formed opinions through my work in the technology field. This section is (“will be?”) where I share my thoughts and notes on all things infrastructure – systems administration, systems architecture, and anything else of that realm.

Taking a page from Bruce Eckel, Martin Fowler, and Elliotte Rusty Harold, I’m posting this work-in-progress to my website. Expect the work to be polished in some areas, draft-quality in others, and just a skeleton in the rest.

A couple of disclaimers before we begin:

There’s nothing new under the sun. I don’t claim every idea here is 100% new and original. Not possible. They’re all shaped by my experiences, either directly (borrowing something I’ve seen elsewhere) or indirectly (building on something I’ve seen elsewhere). Even in the latter case, I would hope the ideas that came to me on my own came to other people, independently.

Also, as I have often said, there are a million ways to run a shop – half of which are right. Each company has its own way of doing things. Some of what I write here will apply and some will not, but if it works for you then bravo.
