Talking about risk

Last night I had the pleasure of kicking off the series finale of the 7 Systematic workshops. My topic? Risk-taking and risk management, of course!

Many thanks to everyone who joined. Double thanks to hosts Jeff Ryan and Justin Shea for the airtime. (After I spoke, they went knee-deep in sizing positions and other risk management techniques for trading. Pure gold.)

For the rest of you, I'll offer a secret:

Those risk management practices from trading?

▶️ They also work for your company's AI adoption! ◀️

A good AI transformation takes a strategic, deliberate approach to managing the risk/reward tradeoff of using this new technology.

If you want to actually win with AI you want to:

  • pick good bets,
  • size them accordingly, and
  • (most of all) keep track of how they're doing

That's how you make the most of AI while avoiding painful downsides.

It's time to stop the scattershot approach to AI. Adopt the risk-thinking mindset. You'll thank me later.
